Umberto Simeoni is Professor of Paediatrics in the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne and Director of the Division of Paediatrics and the Research Unit on the Origins of Health Development and Disease (DOHaD) at the CHUV in Lausanne. He graduated from the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, where he was Professor of Paediatrics and Director of the Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Units at Strasbourg University Hospital until 2001. He was subsequently appointed Professor of Paediatrics and Director of the Department of Neonatology at the University of Aix-Marseille and the AP-HM University Hospital in Marseille until 2014. His research focuses on the developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD), with a particular emphasis on programming the development of the cardiovascular system under conditions of perinatal disease, such as intrauterine growth restriction, preterm birth or exposure to maternal overweight/obesity and gestational diabetes. He is also very interested in perinatal bioethics. He is the author and co-author of more than 150 reference articles, several books on neonatology and more than 300 invited lectures. Umberto Simeoni is currently President of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine and President of the French-speaking DOHaD Society.

Professor Bing Wang received her medical degree from Tianjin Medical University, China, and Ph.D. in Nutritional Science from University of Sydney Australia. She has been a registered Nutritionist of the Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA) since 2008. She led Nutritional Neurodevelopment Research programs in academia and industry before joining CSU in Dec 2012. Her research focuses on the molecular basis of how nutrient components alter metabolic responses important for neurodevelopment, neuroprotection and cognition from fetus to late life and translates her research discoveries to clinical and industrial applications. She received “The Most Valuable Presentation” award at the International Milk Genomics Consortium symposium in 2016, Davis, USA and “The Enthusiastic Research Award" at FASEB conference 2017, Lisbon Portugal and the NSA Fellowship Award in 2023. She has made major contributions to the fields of Milk Biology, Human Milk Oligosaccharides, Nutritional Neurodevelopment and has emerged as an international leader in the role of milk sialoglycans in Pediatric nutrition.

Amélie Deglaire is an associate professor in the National Institute of Higher Education for Agriculture, Food and Environment (L’Institut Agro) in Rennes, France, where she gives lecture about food sensory and nutritional qualities. She is doing her research in the National Research Institute (INRAE), where she is co-leading the research team ‘Bioactivity & Nutrition’. She has been doing research related to infant milk, including Human Milk and Infant Formula for more than 10 years, with a particular interest on the link between the food microstructure, as impacted by technological treatments, and the impact on the digestive behavior but also on the intestinal physiology, using in vitro and in vivo models, from piglet to human preterm babies.

Eva Szabo is a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Chemistry at the Medical School, University of Pécs (Hungary). She obtained her medical degree and PhD degree from the Medical Faculty of the University of Pécs, followed by a brief period of study in Munich. She is a member of numerous national societies dedicated to the ?elds of nutrition and pediatrics and a full member of the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL). She is a co-author of 27 peer-reviewed articles in international journals. Her main fields of interest are the perinatal role of fatty acids and the importance of nutrition in the prevention and maintenance of health. Over the past 15 years, she has been involved in a number of national and international studies on the relationship between trans fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids, as well as on the potential role of long-chain monounsaturated fatty acids in breast milk.

Frédéric DESTAILLATS is Vice President Strategic Development at Checkerspot Inc. He is in charge of developing microalgae-based fats and oils. Frédéric supervises mid to long-term projects and builds the relationships with academic partners and companies. Frédéric has more than 20 years’ experience in lipid research, R&D and Innovation management

Sergine Even is a Research Scientist in the Microbio team of the INRAE unit “Science and technology of Milk and Egg” (STLO). Her research focusses for ~18 years on milk microbiota as a whole or some of its components in relation to human and animal health. She investigated the natural antagonism of Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) with respect to the major pathogen Staphylococcus aureus in dairy products and expanded these investigations to the bovine mammary gland context for mastitis prevention. She naturally moved to the relationship between milk microbiota as a whole and health, for the prevention of mastitis and more recently for the infant’s health. She has started exploring the role of this complex microbial community naturally present in human milk in the establishment of intestinal homeostasis in infants. She is co-managing since 2018 a multidisciplinary research axis at STLO aiming at improving infant formulas.

Dr K. Adel-Patient is Research Director in the Human Nutrition and Food Safety Division of INRAE. She leads the Food Allergy Unit within UMR Medicines and Healthcare Technologies (MTS; Université Paris Saclay, CEA, INRAE). Her team is interested in perinatal factors that may predispose to the development of allergies later in life. Her team’s work is based on in vitro and in vivo models (mother-infant model, food allergy model) and multi-omics analysis of samples collected from allergic patients or from French birth cohorts EDEN and ELFE, including breast milk.

Francisco J Pérez-Cano was born and educated in Barcelona. He studied the degree of Pharmacy (1999) at the University of Barcelona (UB) where he also studied different masters in higher education. He joined in 1996 as student to the "Autoimmunity and Tolerance Research Group" in the Department of Physiology. He moved to the Center for Immunology at the University of California-Irvine in 2003-2004 to complete his training and he defended his PhD about "Mucosal Immunity Acquisition in Early Life" in 2004. After that, he was hired as associate professor (2005), Lecturer (2007) and finally as a Permanent Lecturer (2011) in the Department of Physiology of the University of Barcelona. He is currently teaches different subjects in the Degrees of Pharmacy, Food Science and Technology, Human Nutrition and in several University Masters. He performed a post-doctoral training (2009) at the University of Reading (UK) and has participated in more than 30 research projects with public funding but also in collaboration with industry. Francisco has more than 60 peer-review manuscripts, a book and several book chapters in the field. Francisco's research interests are Immunonutrition in early life. He has focused, on the one hand in the impact of cocoa, and its components, in immunity and microbiota in health conditions but also in disease by using models of acute/chronic inflammation and allergy. On the other hand, he has studied the impact of several components present in breast milk (whey proteins, lactoferrin, CLA, oligosaccharides, probiotic bacteria, etc.) at preclinical level on the developing immune function of infants but also under viral infections. His current line of research is focused on the effect of prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics and its combinations on the neonatal immune system. Dr. Pérez-Cano is member of the Research Institute for Nutrition and Safety-UB (INSA-UB), Ambassador of the Spanish Society of Immunology (SEI), Member of the Research Board of the Catalan Society of Immunology (SCI), and Permanent member of the Ethical Committee for Animal Experimentation (CEEA) at the UB.

Virginie Rigourd is the managing director of the Human Milk Bank of Ile de France. She has graduated from the Medicine University in Paris, France in 1998 and finished post graduate training in 2003 from the same university on intra uterin growth retardation topics. She worked as paediatrician ahead of Ile de France Milk Bank, Paris, France and neonatalogiste in NICU at Necker Hospital, Paris, France. Member of the French Milk Bank Association and European Milk Bank Association. Since 2002 she worked as a national consultant, providing assessments of human milk security and on projects on human milk quality. Dr. Rigourd has carried out few researches on medication and breast feeding. During her work she has gained local and national recognition for her different advice on breast feeding and on practice around human milk in NICIU

Dr Isabelle Le Huërou-Luron is a senior Scientist in the Institute NUMECAN (Nutrition Metabolisms Cancer ; INRAE INSERM Univ Rennes), in the research team ‘Control of Eating Disorder’. She has more than thirty years of research in nutrition and gut physiology. Her Current research interests focus on the gut-brain dialogue upon food transition, i.e. the impact of perinatal nutritional environment on the gut-brain axis and microbiota colonisation, and long term consequences on gut-brain functioning and sensitivity to stress (programming). In this context, she is interested in infant nutrition, including the specificities of breast milk and the composition of infant formulas and their differential impacts on the microbiota-gut-brain axis. For her research, she is using the mini-piglet as a preclinical model, but she is also conducting clinical studies. She is the author of more than 160 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.

GUIDO E. MORO, MD, has been Professor of Neonatology at the Postgraduate School of Paediatrics, University of Milan, Italy, and Director of the Department of Neonatal Pathology of the Macedonio Melloni Maternity Hospital in Milan. His main field of research is infant nutrition, with particular interest to very low birth weight infants feeding, human milk, and human milk banks. He has published more than 250 scientific papers. From October 2010 to October 2012 he has been the first President of the European Milk Bank Association (EMBA). At present time he is President of the Italian Association of Donated Human Milk Banks (AIBLUD), which coordinates the activity of the 44 banks operating in Italy, and he is Treasurer of the European Milk Bank Association (EMBA).

Claude Billeaud received his MD degree from the Medical University of Bordeaux (France) in 1979 after a graduation in human cytogenetics (1976). He then studied pediatrics and has been the Clinical Assistant Director of Bordeaux University in the departments of Pediatrics, Neonatology and Intensive Care since 1983. He currently serves as a pediatrician in the neonatal unit at the Children’s Hospital of Bordeaux, as a scientific manager of Bordeaux-Marmande human milk bank, as a lecturer and head of research in neonatal nutrition at the Medical University of Bordeaux. His particular interest in research led him to graduate in Biology and Health (1988, Bordeaux), be awarded a master in statistics applied to clinical research (1991, Montreal) and complete a PhD in nutrition and food science (2000, Bordeaux). Along his career he has often been invited as a guest professor specialized in nutrition and neonatology in various universities abroad (Montreal, Corrientes in Argentina). Over the last 35 years, he has been an active member of different scientific organizations, either French, European or American, specialized in perinatal medicine (neonatology, pediatrics and nutrition). In this instance, he has served as the President of the Association for Pediatric Education in Europe (A.P.E.E) since 2008. He has also been very involved in the French human milk banking association (ADLF) for more than 10 years, sharing his academic knowledge focused in nutrition and his long clinical experience in neonatology. He is currently carrying out several researches on the composition of human milk. As an expert in nutrition and perinatal medicine, he is also the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications

Dr Raphaël Serreau is a doctor who has been teaching and researching at the Institut Léonard de Vinci for 12 years, as part of the Clinical Research Attaché program. He teaches clinical trial pharmacology in this diploma course in healthcare, directed by Katia Calmejane. After completing his doctorate in medicine at the Université François Rabelais de Tours and in pharmacology at the Université Paris V René Descartes in 2007, on the Risk Management Plan for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding, he joined the Clinical Research Center at the Hôpital Cochin and Necker in Paris in 2005, where he directed research combining perinatology and pharmacology. He became Professor of Clinical Research in May 2016, at the Université ILV Paris la Défense. He works in Paris, in the AP-HP University Hospitals, at the "psycomadd" Psychiatry Comorbidities and Addictions Research Unit and in Orléans Métropole where he heads the preventive medicine service on toxicology and xenobiotics in mother and child to avoid exposure to toxicity via occupational medicine.

Claire Bourlieu-Lacanal graduated from Montpellier Supagro as an engineer specialized in Food Science and Nutrition. After a PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry and Food Technology, she was trained as a post-doctorate on enzymatic modifications of vegetable oils and then started her career as an INRAE Research Associate in the Joint Research Unit “Science and Technology of Milk and Egg”. There, she led a research theme on the physicochemical characterization of dairy lipids, their interaction with dairy proteins and their applications in neonatal nutrition. She joined the JRU “Agropolymers Engineering and Emerging technology” in 2016, where she leads projects on the valorization and functionalization of vegetal lipids and lipoproteic assemblies, the nutritional characterization of seed-derived ingredients, their digestibility and inclusion in food matrices. After a chair in research and teaching in PPGAN in 2018, she sat in her accreditation to conduct research and is now co-leading the team GRAINE(S) in JRU IATE and is an associated scientific partner of JRU QUALISUD. She is the author of more than 70 scientific articles and book chapters, is highly involved in lipids associations and co-leads a transversal action on structuring/destructuring bioproducts for her division TRANSFORM .

Bodo C. Melnik, MD, Professor of Dermatology and Senior Lecturer at the University of Osnabrück, Germany, has focused on translational and epidemiological milk research since 2009, when milk consumption was identified as an inducing agent of acne and other common diseases of Western civilization (PMID: 19243483 and 29241749). After characterization of milk as an endocrine activator of mTORC1 (26225961) and epigenetic regulator of postnatal programming and development (29221571;28933365), the impact of persistent milk and milk exosome signaling has been linked to the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (25587719; 31827573), obesity (22523661), prostate cancer (22891897), and neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson´s disease (30602375).

Driton Vllasaliu is a Group Leader at King's College London and a registered pharmacist. He has leading expertise in injection-free delivery of biologics (peptides, proteins, nucleic acids) and uses state-of-the-art tools in his research, including organoids, cell culture/co-culture models, organ-on-a-chip technologies and microscopy. He specialises in the study of biological barriers (e.g. epithelium, mucus, subcutaneous tissue) to effective delivery of biological therapies. He is currently pioneering the use of extracellular vesicles/exosomes for therapeutic use, including for injection-free delivery of nucleic acids.

Amy Brown, programme director for the MSc in Child Public Health where she specialise in teaching about the impact of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period upon child health and wellbeing. Key topics include infant feeding, maternal mental health, and responsive parenting. A psychologist by background, Amy Brown now work in public health research specialising in research exploring early experiences of parenthood with a focus on infant feeding, mental health and normal baby behaviour. She have published widely across these topics with my research helping to inform policy and practice in the UK and internationally. She have a particular interest in public engagement and making sure our research findings are relevant, understood and shared in an engaging way so that they can reach new parents and those who support them. She have worked closely with policy makers, public health bodies and charities around the world to ensure this happens. Lauren Wong, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and tongue tie practitioner, offering affordable, compassionate and professional infant feeding guidance, breastfeeding support and tongue tie assessment / division for baby in Beds, Herts and Bucks. She have been working in private practice for over 5 years, and have performed over 1500 frenulotomy (tongue tie division) procedures during the course of her NHS and private work. Lauren Wong began her career as an adult nurse, before moving into neonatal nursing in 2003, and later completing the specialist Neonatal Intensive Care qualification. After moving from London to Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, she became a neonatal Senior Sister, later taking up post as Infant Feeding Lead for the trust and running an NHS tongue tie clinic. Lauren Wong is the mother to two wonderful girls, both of whom were breastfed despite challenges. Lauren Wong completed a one year training course at Wolverhampton University and Russells Hall Hospital to certify as a tongue tie / frenulotomy practitioner.She is a member of the Lactation Consultants Great Britain (LCGB), the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) and the Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners (ATP). She understand that there is no such thing as “one solution fits all” in the world of breastfeeding, and take great pride in providing clients with high quality, evidence-based lactation and breastfeeding care and support.

Natalie completed her PhD in 2015 in the Cancer Epigenetics Unit at the Hammersmith Campus, under the supervision of Dr James Flanagan and Professor Bob Brown. Her work focussed on DNA methylation signatures of breast cancer subtypes and environmental exposures. She co-published the first genome-wide signature of smoking exposure and developed a methylation index that can reliably determine individuals who were former smokers. Work during the final year of her PhD developed the use of cells derived from breast milk as a resource in which cell-specific epigenetic changes can be assessed, with potential for the development of cancer risk prediction tools. This work has led the the establishment of a nationwide prospective population cohort study, the BECS study, which aims to recruit milk samples from several thousand women over the next 6 years. She has developed collaborations between numerous research groups across the UK and beyond, and her future work will focus on establishing a bioresource to expand the scope of research that can be conducted into breast milk. She is a former Trustee of the UK Association for Milk Banking, cofounder of the Human Milk Foundation and Director of the Hearts Milk Bank.

Victoria Nakibuuka is a Ugandan neonatologist and a paediatrician who works at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala, Uganda. She is head of department of neonates at Nsambya Hospital.[1] She is also member of the national newborn steering committee and national maternal and perinatal review committee. She pioneered perinatal death audits at Nsambya hospital which was later scaled up in the whole country and setting up one of the first neonatal intensive care units in Uganda
